3-7 Day 12

Today we got up and went for a highly recommended walk around the lagoon. We didn't see much in the way of "pretty fish" (nor the crocodiles they warn against), but we didn't just sit with our Starbucks, as recommended. Since the wind was broken by resorts, it was hot! We walked all the way down to Dolphin Discovery and crossed the street at the mini-flea market. Both of us were having trouble with our feet and/or ankle....sigh....getting old is a bitch.

Then we came back to the resort and had a little lunch. Sat on the deck the rest of the afternoon. We began packing things up....wish we had a scale.

We said good-bye to Shelly and much to our distress, she said today was her last day of employment....she had accepted another position elsewhere.....that is sad, very sad. We already had lost Gabriela......

Reflections:
Its been an interesting year. While for the most part, it is always awesome to be here, it seems I have spent a great deal of it under a blanket!....next year I pack a windbreaker!....Dale says its been less than half of the time, but Fri-Sunday was COLD, WINDY and really ugly.....then yesterday and today was really windy. ..which made it much colder than it really was.....feeling the wind off the bay.

It just seemed like things were missing from this trip, but I couldn't tell you what. I'm sure the weather had a lot to do with it. And having done most activities in the past (e.g. swimming with dolphins), we didn't do much. Our annual adventure was Chichen Itza and that wasn't one of our better days. Just today, I was thinking we should do a glass bottom boat....we've done it before, but its been many years and in the presence of a kazillion drunk spring breakers.  Sigh.....

On a 1-10, I'd give it a 6/7. Not one of the better trips, but not as bad as Puerto Moreles or Puerto Vallarta!!.

Now tomorrow is another one of those gawd awful travel days and I see a storm heading to Aberdeen?!?! Again...sigh....time to go to bed.

3-6 Day 11

Another boring day in paradise!!! Yay!

Walked beginning about 5:30....one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen!

The morning was beautiful. It became a bit windy in early afternoon, but nothing unbearable.

We laid out until we made our last quick trip to Walmart for a few groceries to fill out the menus for the next day or so.

That's It!! Ain't it wonderful?

3-5 Day 10

Very nice day. The weather was perfect.

Because of (yet another) bad night, I didn't feel well, so I didn't go for a morning walk (thus the late sunrise).
Then we went on a short (and free!) boat ride/tour. It was nice and the sales person (Jason) explained all the resorts and homes and how/who they were developed, etc.

Then basically laid out until mid afternoon when we decided to go to the public beach. I got the best massage I've had in years!!!

That was it!!....lazy, lazy day and yet I'm still just exhausted and heading to bed @ 8:30.
Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be nice, but windy...)-:

3-4 Day 9

I absolutely cannot believe it is day 9!! Regardless of weather, seems it goes so fast.

Today was a much better day!.....Cool in the morning, but I was out in the sun by about 10:00. First went to do a load of laundry....me and about 39 others!!! Thought Monday would be slow, but....

Laid out most of the late morning and afternoon and then went for a mani-pedi! It was awesome. Then back out to the beach where we re-met (from last year) the couple from Iowa. Had a nice visit and then got to know another couple from Utah. Fun to talk to others about their experiences, not only here, but in other travels as well. John & Diane from Iowa think they might not come next year, so they would let us rent 912 for two straight weeks! That would be awesome.

Tomorrow is supposed to be another great day. After that, the wind changes again, but hopefully not too much.

Love the way this turtle is all stretched out....never thought about them having webbed feet, but certainly makes sense
Finally able to sun themselves
Ahhhhh.....much better day.

Argh!!---its 48 degrees right now. Heck, its 30 in Aberdeen!
I'm thinking that sunrise walk in my swimsuit might not be so smart. Sigh....

3-3 Day 8

Parroquia de Cristo Resucitado(Parish of the Risen Christ)
They have really cleaned up the lagoon area. As we were walking the new trail, we noticed this warning.

Painting...what we won't do when its cold and windy!!

Sunday was a very ugly day. COLD, WINDY and just plain nasty weather.
We got up and went to church. We then went to "arts and crafts" and did some painting.
From there, we just sat around with a blanket around us as neither has warm clothes here (and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay $45 for a windbreaker I'll never need again). I think we're almost done with the entire West Wing series!

The weather report looks better for the week, but not great, depending on how the wind is blowing. I find this entirely frustrating with only 4 days left to go!

Saturday, March 2, 2013

This is the beach today.....not exactly as I would have wished it. Always some diehards out there, but dang it was COLD!.....don't want to lay on the beach when I have to cover up!
Argh.....it is so cold and windy. What to do today?
They faithfully clean the beach every Saturday morning, though. (see video)
And they are a couple of faithfuls...regardless....notice lady with her jacket on, sitting on the beach, Really???

3-2 Saturday beach cleaning....

Friday-- 3/1

Well......Friday was UGLY!!......I don't have pictures, but I actually should take some of the beach....its pretty awful. Again, it rained and got cold and soooo windy. Just like 2008..

I did a load of laundry early and then painted at the "shop".  We then went to Walmart, which is always frustrating on its own, but with my mood it was particularly unpleasant.

We just laid around the rest of the afternoon and then bussed to the Forum by the Sea for supper at Bucci di Peppo. Well, par for the day, it is no longer there. So we just ended up up Hard Rock by default.

Not sure what we'll do today. No laundry to do (and its closed on Sat....same with the paint shop). Damned if I'll pay $8 extra for the gym.......
The weather on Saturday and Sunday is supposed to be even uglier.....sigh. Good thing, for the most part, I forget these days and remember the good.

Thursday, 2-28

Thursday was a bit disappointing. Having done an "express" trip to ruins before, we knew that did not leave enough time...so we opted for the "middle" tour....which was 8-5, rather than 6am-7pm....
Imagine our surprise when we got on the bus and it was announced we were on the express tour and would return about 3:00.....oh well!
BUT....our tour guide gave the tour in three languages. While I absolutely appreciate the need for different languages, we figure we got about 1/3 of the tour highlights because he had to say everything three times!!! We only got to the second "building" of the ruins before our tour time was up. It was also very hard to follow as he changed from one language to the other and then add broken English at best.
So we went out on our own...but by then we had less than an hour and literally ran and took pictures of things, bought a book and studied later the things we had seen. We then realized we had really only seen about 1/2 of the ruins and no time to shop.
So the pictures you see are not labeled. Perhaps later??
We had really wanted to see the cenote where Jeremy videoed Jordan and Sarah jumping!! But we missed that entirely.
Oh well.....we can say we have been to one of the wonders of the world!.

Friday through Sunday is supposed to be pretty nasty. Cold (72), cloudy and windy...similar to the days we brought the children here. YuK!!!...at least, having internet, I am prepared and thinking of indoor activities???? Sigh........better go buy a deck of cards.
